LIFE-TRANSFOMEM project has participated in the RECYCLING EXPO-2015 International Congress

LIFE-TRANSFOMEM project has participated in the RECYCLING EXPO-2015 International Congress, celebrated in Barcelona 20-22th July. IMDEA WATER PhD researcher has presented in an oral presentation part of the work conducted in the first year of the Project. The work entitle “Evaluation of the ppm·h concept for end-of-life RO membranes into recycled NF and UF membrane” is focus on investigation of the optimal concentration and exposure time of the membrane with NaOCl to scale up the transformation process. Pilot scale experimentation will start son in Cuevas de Almanzora Desalination Plant.

Life cycle assessment of a conventional wastewater treatment system, using OpenLCA and from the urban metabolism perspective. Case study: Guadalajara (Spain)

IMDEA Water Institute is investigating about life-cycle assessment (LCA). Specifically, it has been recently evaluated the impact of the current conventional treatment of Guadalajara WWTP, with OpenLCA free software. In this plant we are going to install during next year, the validation pilot plant which will contain ultrafiltration recycled membranes.

 

The conducted assessment it has been done as a part of the final report of the máster in Hydrology and Hydric Resources Management from Alcalá University (UAH) and Rey Juan Carlos University (URJC). It has tried to establish the baseline for further studies regarding how recycled membrane contribute in the WWTP impact
